Rolex Datejust weight – Complete Guide & List

One of the most common questions we receive is regarding the weight of different Rolex watches. As you may have noticed, Rolex does not include the weight of its watches in its product specifications, unlike many other manufacturers. With that said, the information about this topic is very limited. To make things easier, we have therefore created this guide of common Datejust references and their respective weights.

Keep in mind that there are a number of factors that can affect the weight of a Rolex watch. Some of the most important include the number of links that are fitted on the bracelet, the scale the watch is weighed on, and the dial it is fitted with. All of these factors can affect the watch’s weight, and with that said, see the weights below as indicative, and not definite. The number of links is unknown unless stated otherwise.

In addition, what also has a great effect on the watch’s weight is the bracelet, but this is indicated in the list below, so this is taken into consideration.

Rolex Datejust Weight

  • Rolex Datejust 116201145 grams.

  • Rolex Datejust 116233136.8 grams.

  • Rolex Datejust 41 126334 Oyster bracelet: 143 grams (all links)

  • Rolex Datejust 16200 Oyster bracelet: 102 grams (approx)

  • Rolex Datejust 36 126234 Jubilee: 117g (all links)

  • Rolex Datejust 36 12634 Oyster bracelet: 124g (all links)

  • Rolex Datejust 116200 Oyster Bracelet: 123 grams (12 links)

Rolex Datejust 41 Dimensions & Lug-to-Lug Size Guide

In 2017, Rolex released a new generation of Datejust – the Datejust 41. This new Datejust came under a number of references, depending on the configuration (Where the two affecting factors are metal type and bezel type).

The Datejust 41 is a follow-up and success of the previous Datejust II. The latter mentioned was not hugely successful due to its proportions. The proportions of the Datejust II were not perfectly in line with, the classic look of the Datejust that we all know and love. And due to the larger size, Rolex hadn’t quite gotten the proportions of the case and dial just right.

By introducing the Datejust 41, Rolex made this watch more refined and gave it the traditional dimensions and proportions of the classic Datejust 36, but in a larger case.

The Datejust 41 is available in the references 126334, 126331, 126300, 126301, 126333, and 126303, again depending on their metal and bezel type. Regardless of the reference (version), all Datejust 41s have the same size and dimensions. Do note, however, that the Datejust 41 is available on either the Jubilee bracelet or the Oyster bracelet. Due to the more robust and sporty nature of the Oyster bracelet, the watch may be perceived as slightly larger and bulkier when it is fitted on it, as opposed to the Jubilee bracelet.

Rolex Datejust 41 126334 dimensions and size guide

  • Diameter: 41mm
  • Height/thickness: 12mm
  • Lug-to-lug: 47.6mm
  • Lug width: 20mm

Launched in 1945, the Datejust has undergone a lot of changes and refinements over the years, but its ethos and original design language still remain. The classic and distinct shape and lines of the Datejust still live on, proving it a truly timeless watch.

In this article, we are looking closer at some interesting facts about the Rolex Datejust – Rolex’s most popular model.

The Datejust was the first Rolex watch to feature Rolex’s now-iconic cyclops. It would take 9 years after the initial introduction of the Datejust before Rolex introduced the cyclops for the model. Rolex Datejust 36 126234 [Complete Guide & History]

Baselworld is among the most anticipated watch fairs in the world.

Every year, close to one hundred thousand watch enthusiasts flock to the fair taking place in Basel, to see the new watches that brands release.

One of the most anticipated watch brands on Baselworld is Rolex. At Baselworld 2019, Rolex releases new models and discontinues a few old models. One of the watches that Rolex released at Baselworld 2019 is the Rolex Datejust 36 reference 126234.

While the Datejust 36 is no new model from Rolex, at Baselworld 2019, it did receive some updates and improvements. And as you know, Rolex is not about revolution, but rather about evolution.

In this article, we’re looking closer at the Rolex Datejust 36 126234.

Rolex Datejust 36 126234

The Rolex Datejust is the most classic and iconic Rolex watch. In Rolex’s own words ”The Datejust, thanks to its aesthetics and functions, transcends changes in fashion. Aesthetically, the Datejust has spanned eras, while retaining the enduring codes that make it, notably in its traditional versions, one of the most recognized and recognizable of watches.”

The Rolex Oyster was released in 1945 and Rolex describes it as the most important watchmaking invention of its time.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the Rolex Oyster, Rolex introduced the Datejust, which upon release was the first self-winding chronometer to indicate the date in a window on the dial. The first Datejust was equipped with a Jubilee bracelet specially created for it, as well as a fluted bezel. The fluted bezel is still distinctively used today for some of Rolex’s Datejust models.

Rolex is introducing two new variants of the Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36 – both white Rolesor versions (combining Oystersteel and 18 ct white gold).”

At Baselworld 2019, Rolex introduced two new variants of the Datejust 36.

The first version has a black sunray-finish dial and fluted bezel, and the second model has a white mother-of-pearl dial with 10 diamond hour markers in 18 ct white gold settings and a bezel set with 52 brilliant-cut diamonds.

The Rolex Datejust 126234 features, like all Rolex watches, a sapphire crystal. On the sapphire crystal is a Cyclops lens, invented by Rolex in 1953. This cyclops lens magnifies the date for easy reading.

As the name suggests, the Rolex Datejust 36 has a 36mm case, which is a very traditional and classic size. The Datejust is available in a number of different executions, but as mentioned, Basel 2019 brought two brand new 36mm Datejust models.

Technically, the whole 36mm Datejust range was updated, as all 36mm Datejust watches now come with the updated caliber 3235. Previously, the Datejust 36mm watches were equipped with the previous caliber 3135. But apart from the updated movement, they are all identical.

Rolex Datejust 126234

Last Basel, in 2018, Rolex updated the whole Datejust 41 line by changing the movement from the 3135 to the 3235. As such, taking Basel 2019 to update the movement of the 36mm Datejusts to the new generation was an expected step for Rolex to take.

The new Rolex Datejust 126234 has a water resistance of 100 meters (330 feet), which is the same as all Datejust models. The middle case is crafted from a solid block of corrosion-resistant Oyster steel (904L). It also has a screw-down (Twinlock) crown and a screw case back. This makes it a watch that can be worn in almost all circumstances. A perfect daily watch.

The new reference of the Datejust 36 also reveals the new version. The references of the preceding all began with ”11”, but the new model now begins with ”12”.

36mm can be considered small seeing that there is a 41mm version, but the 36mm size makes it a truly classic watch. Its size will fit most wrists, both men and women, and this is what makes it so universal.

Two Datejust 126234 variants

For Basel 2019, you have two completely new models apart from the updated movements. The black dial has a sunray finish. The indices are, as always, finished in 18-carat gold.

Furthermore, the fluted bezel is also made of 18-carat white gold and gives the watch a truly special glow in the sunlight. For the hour markers, Rolex uses their Chromalight-applied hour markers and hands that give a blue luminescent color in low-light conditions.

As for the bracelet of this piece, the new black dial version features a Jubilee bracelet that is both elegant and extremely comfortable. It is equipped with a Folding Oysterclasp with Easylink 5 mm comfort extension link that allows you to adjust it by 5 millimeters without any tools, for better fit and more comfort.

The Jubilee bracelet is made up of five-piece links.

3235 MOVEMENT

Since the 36mm Datejust range received a new generation movement, all the focus is on the movement when it comes to the new, but also the updated Datejust 36s.

Rolex has been using the Caliber 3135 for decades. The caliber 3135 movement was first introduced in 1988, and it quickly become Rolex’s main movement.

But continuously since 1988, they have updated and tweaked it numerous times. And sometimes so subtly that even experienced watchmakers struggle to see the difference.

However, the 3235 is the latest generation caliber from Rolex. It is not a brand new movement in 2019, considering Rolex first introduced it in 2015, first debuting in the 39mm Pearlmaster, however, it is a brand new caliber for the Rolex Datejust 36 126234 watches.

Since the release of the caliber 3235, Rolex has slowly introduced the new generation movement in more and more watches. And considering that the 3135 was Rolex’s ”go-to standard movement”, the new generation will get the same position.

Now to the movement specifications. The calibre 3235 is a new-generation movement that includes 14 patents. The caliber combines precision, power reserve, resistance to shocks, and magnetic fields. In other words, everything you are looking for in a workhorse, long-lasting movement.

The caliber uses the new Chronergy escapement patented by Rolex, which combines high energy efficiency with great dependability. It is made of nickel-phosphorus, and it is thus insensitive to magnetic interference. Furthermore, it contains the Paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers. The power reserve has also been increased to 70 hours.

It is, of course, COSC certified, and is thus guaranteed to operate within -2/+2 sec/day.

The functions of the movement are very straightforward. it has Centre hour, minute, and seconds hands, as well as an instantaneous date with a rapid setting. It also has stop-seconds for precise time setting.

The rotor is, of course bidirectional.

Conclusion

When looking at Rolex new releases, it’s always worth having in mind that Rolex is a brand that is all about evolution, not revolution. Rolex seldom comes with revolutionary, huge changes, instead, they constantly make small improvements that improve their watches’ quality, reliability, durability, and overall

The new 2019 updated Datejust 36 range shows that, as Rolex has introduced the new generation 3235 movement which is all of those things mentioned above. But apart from that, not much has changed. The Rolex Datejust 36 continues to be a true classic, and it is one of Rolex’s most timeless watches, that will remain just as relevant today as 20 years from now. If you want to get a Rolex watch that you simply cannot go wrong with no matter when you plan on using it, the Datejust 36 is definitely a great candidate.

Rolex Datejust 41 126334 Wimbledon [Complete Guide & Review]

The Rolex Datejust is one of the most, if not the most important models for the brand. One might say that the Datejust is the essence of a Rolex: simple, reliable, rock-solid, very well made, and with a classic and truly timeless design.

After all, out of all its models, the Datejust is the most sold model.

And in that collection, there are different Datejust variations. One of which is the Datejust 41.

The Datejust 41 is the ultimate all-around timepiece, combining sportiness with elegance, probably making it one of the best Rolex watches for everyday use.

The Rolex Datejust 41 126334 Wimbledon is one of the watches in the Datejust collection that truly stand out. The Datejust 41 126334 is elegant as it is with its slimmed case, white gold fluted bezel, and Oyster or Jubilee bracelet. But the specific ”Wimbledon” dial is something else.

In this article, we’re focusing on the Rolex Datejust 41 126334 Wimbledon, but before we do that, let’s briefly go over the history of the model.

Rolex Datejust 126334

History of the Rolex Datejust

The Rolex Datejust was introduced in 1945. The Datejust at the time was a milestone in watchmaking innovation, combining a date function with a self-winding movement that is also a chronometer and waterproof.

The first Rolex Datejust was introduced for the 40th anniversary of Rolex, and the first Datejust was the reference 4467.

The innovation of a date window at 3 o’clock has had a significant impact on the watch market, and now you can see countless of other brands having taken notice as it nowadays has become the norm.

The original Datejust had a coin-style bezel different from the fluted bezel today. And at the beginning, the Datejust was only available in yellow gold. Then in the following years, Rolex also released the Datejust in rose gold, steel, or two-tone.

And despite the fact that the Datejust was released more than 70 years ago, the watch is still quite similar to the modern versions. Sure, they may have been improved for better reliability, better quality, and to meet the size ideals of today, but at their core, they are very similar. This just goes to show just how timeless the Datejust design really is.

Rolex Datejust 126334

The characteristic cyclops over the date window was actually not released until 194, which is nine years after its launch. Over the years, Rolex has released countless dial variations for the Datejust, and slightly different models and references.

But despite this, the Datejust has always been a three-handed watch with a date window at 3 o’clock. It is safe to say that it has remained faithful to the original. Because Rolex simply does not change a winning concept. Only refine it.

Rolex Datejust 41 126334 Wimbledon

Now that we have a little background to the Datejust, let’s focus on the model we are here for.

To begin with, the name ”Wimbledon” simply refers to a type of Datejust dial.

This dial has become immensely popular over the years, mainly because it’s a lovely dial, but also because of the history behind it, which we will go more into detail about further on.

Since “the Wimbledon” is just a dial, you can find it in a few different Datejust versions. All of them, however, are in the Datejust 41 range. But it is only the variant made in steel and with a white gold bezel that has the reference 126334. The Datejust 126334 is a 41mm Datejust that features a fluted bezel made in white gold. Then there is a second reference, the 126300. The only difference is that this reference has a smooth bezel in steel instead of white gold. Then, of course, you also have gold and steel variants whose reference numbers either end with the digit 1 or 3 (yellow or Everose Rolesor).

In 2021, Rolex introduced the Wimbledon dial to the Datejust 36 for the first time, making it available in two sizes.

Rolex Wimbledon

Since all Datejust models can feature either an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet, this can also vary with the Wimbledon.

Now, let’s look closer at the Datejust 41 reference 126334.

The Rolex Datejust 126234 is the updated version of the previous reference 116334. For the new reference, the movement is slimmer, as well as the lugs. This has given it a more slender shape which enhances the comfort of wearing it.

As the model name suggests, the watch has a diameter of 41mm, but because the watch does not feature bulky lugs like other Rolex sports watches, and is instead very slimmed, it wears relatively small.

The 126334 features the calibre 3235, offering improvements in terms of precision, resistance to shocks and magnetic fields, and upgraded power reserve, now offering 70 hours.

The movement features the Chronergy escapement and the balance wheel is fitted with the Parachrom hairspring, a paramagnetic alloy exclusive to Rolex. It is regulated within tolerances of −2/+2 seconds per day or more than twice that required of an official chronometer.

When the Datejust 41 was introduced, it replaced the predecessor Datejust II, and the big news when this happened was that the Jubilee bracelet was reintroduced. Previously, the Datejust II was only available with an Oyster bracelet.

Because of the comfort that the Jubilee bracelet offers, and the pure class that it radiates, the Datejust 126334 with Jubilee bracelet and Wimbledon dial is actually one of the most popular Datejust models in production at writing moment.

When it comes to the bracelet, Both the Jubilee and the Oyster bracelet feature the folding Oysterclasp with Easylink 5 mm comfort extension link.

Rolex Jubilee oyster clasp

You will be surprised at how versatile the 126334 really is. While it was originally made as a classy dress watch for the gentleman, the modern Datejust has become so much more versatile. And in our opinion, 126334 is one of the best Rolex watches to wear every single day. Because no matter on which occasion, the watch simply works.

From a  dress watch point of view, you have a classy, elegant, and slim-profile watch that is discreet yet beautiful. This allows the watch to slip under a cuff without any problems. From a sports point of view, you have a strong steel case with 100m water resistance and luminous hands. Then, of course, you also have the 41mm case with is larger and sportier than the traditional 36mm case. This should really be the best of both worlds.

Furthermore, the dial colors of the 41 make it easy to match with a suit.

Rolex 126334 Wimbledon dial

Let’s look closer at the Wimbledon dial. After all, this is what makes it special. At its core, it is only a Datejust.

As you know, Rolex never really releases any limited editions, and rarely releases special editions. But what they do, however, is make something new, and then market that particular watch in association with something, continuing to push the association of two things.

Take for example the DeepSea Sea-Dweller James Cameron. Nowhere does it say that the watch’s name is James Cameron or that it is a James Cameron special edition. Instead, collectors and watch enthusiasts have embraced the name and given it a nickname.

The same goes for the Datejust Wimbledon!

If you look at Rolex’s website, you won’t see the name ”Rolex Datejust Wimbledon”. Instead, it is collectors who have given the dial type that name. Now, when you look at the dial, you can assume that the green-color details on the dial are intentional in order to make it slightly tennis-inspired as a reference to the green fields of Wimbledon.Rolex Datejust 41 126334 Wimbledon

Of course, it is not a coincidence that Rolex introduces the Wimbledon dial and promotes it together with the tennis tournament – instead, it is very carefully thought out. But what is so interesting is that other brands would have promoted the new model as the ”Wimbledon special edition” or similar, but not Rolex. In Rolex’s words, it’s simply a regular Datejust 41.

This is an example of subtle marketing, which Rolex does really well. And it seems to work as well because people love the Wimbledon dial.

The Datejust 41 Wimbledon got its name from the legendary tennis tournament, because of Rolex’s close relationship with it. Rolex has been an official partner and timekeeper since 1978. This ”marked the beginning of a privileged association between two partners driven by the pursuit of excellence.”

Again, to point out, reference 126334 is not the only reference with the Wimbledon dial. There are also yellow gold and steel and Everose gold and steel versions that are also available with the Wimbledon dial. These versions are available with either fluted or smooth bezels. The references are:

  • 126331
  • 126301
  • 126303
  • 126333

The Wimbledon Datejust 41 126334 features a slate dial, white‑gold fluted bezel, and black Roman numerals edged in luminous green. This nod to Wimbledon is also relevant for Rolex as well since it is the brand’s signature color. At its core, the dial is a rhodium dial, and you can see many similarities between this and the full rhodium dial.

”The dial is the distinctive face of a Rolex watch, the feature most responsible for its identity and readability. Characterized by hour markers fashioned from 18 ct gold to prevent tarnishing, every Rolex dial is designed and manufactured in-house, largely by hand to ensure perfection.”

It’s safe to say that the green details of the watch truly make it stand out, and give it a fun and unique twist. A regular single-colorer dial Datejust is nice, but it can become boring after a while. And if you grow tired of your watches after a while, the Datejust 41 Wimbledon is a perfect choice.

The Rolex 126334 is actually not the first reference to have the Wimbledon dial. In fact, the prior Datejust II was the first reference to have the Wimbledon dial.

Rolex Datejust 126334 specifications

Like you would expect from a Rolex watch, the Datejust 41 126334 is perfect when it comes to building quality. While it is slim and elegant, it feels solid and robust. You can really feel that this is a watch that can be passed down to generations.

When you think of a Rolex Jubilee bracelet, you may think of the old Rolex Datejust Jubilee bracelets that are loose and makes a 180-degree turn if you lift them up. The new Jubilee bracelet is nothing like that. It is solid and robust, yet extremely comfortable to wear.

The watch has a twin lock screw-down crown to ensure its water resistance. Both the crystal and cyclops are made of sapphire crystal.

Is Rolex Datejust Water Proof? Answered!

The Rolex Datejust is one of the most popular and iconic Rolex watches ever made. First launched in 1945, it is not only one of Rolex’s most recognized models but also a cornerstone in the Rolex collection. With its wide size, dial, and metal options, there are more than 100 different Datejust configurations to choose from. In fact, you could say that this model has played a crucial role in the success of the brand.

The Datejust was launched as a way to commemorate the company’s 40th anniversary and it is, therefore, one of the oldest models of watches that still remain in production today. As the name suggests, the Datejust presents the date of the month. And in 1953, Rolex added its iconic “cyclops” crystal on top of the date window to magnify it and improve its legibility. This Rolex invention was actually an idea that was sparked after Hans Wilsdorf’s wife complained that it was sometimes difficult to read the date.

Today, the cyclops is one of the most iconic and distinctive features of Rolex watches.

The Rolex Datejust is not a part of the professional range. In other words, it is not a sports watch. Instead, it is intended as an elegant and functional everyday watch to be born throughout all of life’s different events and occasions.

But despite this, are Rolex Datejust watches water proof?

Rolex Datejust water proof

Throughout the years, Rolex has released countless iterations, references, and models within the Datejust line. And in traditional Rolex fashion, they have focused heavily on improving their longevity, performance, and durability. This has led to a number of key upgrades to the watch throughout the years.

The answer to whether the Rolex Datejust is water proof or not can be answered by looking closer at the dial. By doing so, you will find the magic words “Oyster Perpetual” printed on each and every single Datejust.

By understanding what these important words mean, we can understand its water-resistant capabilities.

Oyster Perpetual means that the watch has an Oyster case and is powered by a perpetual, automatic movement. So what is the Rolex Oyster case?

Rolex Oyster case – Datejust water-resistance

The Rolex Oyster case marked an important milestone for Rolex and the watch industry as a whole when it was launched in 1926. It was the first waterproof case for a wristwatch, enabled by an innovative and patented case structure where the bezel, case back, and winding crown screw down against the middle case. In Rolex’s words, it is “A symbol of robustness and waterproofness, it is a superb blend of form and function”. Thanks to a hermetic construction of the Oyster case, “all Oyster watches are guaranteed waterproof to a depth of at least 100 metres (330 feet)”

And since all Datejust watches have Oyster cases, there you have the answer.

The answer is, technically yes, But in the watch industry, the term “water-proof” is not used because nothing is ever completely water-proof. Instead, Rolex states that they are water-resistant up to 100m/330 feet. Therefore, there’s no such thing as waterproof as everything will leak eventually. But the Rolex Datejust is in fact water-resistant.

In other words, you can take your Rolex Datejust swimming and subject it to water without any issues, But before you do so, make sure the crown is properly screwed down. It is also advised to have your watch pressure-tested every now and then to ensure the water resistance of the watch. When serviced (Rolex recommends every 10 years), the gaskets will be replaced to ensure that it is completely sealed and water-resistant.

All Rolex Datejust watches have the same water-resistance

All Rolex Datejust watches have the same water resistance and have had so for many decades. The 100-meter water resistance, therefore, applies regardless of the model and year of your Datejust. But if you have a particularly old watch that has not been serviced or pressure-tested for a long time, it is advised that you have it checked and potentially serviced before you submerge it under water.
