The Rolex Explorer II is Rolex’s most sporty and robust timepiece. After all, it’s in its name. This is a black-dial version of the Rolex Explorer II 216570. This particular watch is dated 2016 and comes with its full set of all accessories.

The Explorer has a 42-millimeter case, up from 40 from the preceding refeence 16570. This increase in size was done not only to make the watch sportier and robust, but the increased case size also meant a larger dial, which thus further improves legibility. Because the Rolex Explorer is born on Mount Everest, so this watch is for the most serious explorer – or for someone who just enjoys the craftsmanship and looks.

In true Rolex fashion, the watch is made in 904L anti-corrosive stainless steel. The watch features large hands and large markers for legibility purposes. The watch is powered by the Rolex 3137 caliber. This movement is not only a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex, but it also has, apart from the conventional hour, minute and seconds hands, a 24-hour hand to display a second time zone.

As mentioned, this watch is Rolex’s most serious sports watch, and a lot of that is in the movement. The 3187 is fitted with a Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers that offers greater resistance to shocks and to extreme conditions.
